On Monday, May 4 @ 2pm, our Kindergarten classes will perform a concert. They will sing songs they've learned in music class, as well as songs and dances learned with their classroom teachers.

Music event for Ms. Chimera's class

Mrs. Chimera's class has been working very hard in music class all year long! We are excited to invite our parents and families to a special music informance on Thursday, May 21 at 6 pm.

An informance is different from a traditional performance. It is an opportunity to inform parents about what we do in music class and why we do it. During this time, you will experience a typical music class alongside the students. Mrs. DelBello will guide everyone through the kinds of activities we do regularly and explain the learning behind them as we go.

This informance will feature Mrs. Chimera's class only. Afterward, we will celebrate with a social event in their classroom. We can't wait to share our musical learning with you!

ALL of the 3rd and 4th graders will be performing their spring concerts as a part of the Spring Extravaganza on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The Spring Extravaganza includes the whole-school art show, third grade music performance, fourth grade band, orchestra, and chorus performance, and food trucks!

Third grade performance: 5:30 pm

Fourth grade performance: 7:00 pm

On Monday, April 27 at 2pm, our second grade classes will present a concert titled Every Day is Earth Day. This concert will connect learning in the music classroom to learning in ELA and science as students sing songs and share facts about our planet. Our concert is open to the public and will last about 30 minutes.

The third graders are doing a collaborative unit in art and music this month on the piece "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky. We are excited to do a presentation at our spring concert. Please mark your calendars for the spring concert and art show Wednesday, June 3, at 5:30pm!

Learning about careers can be super fun to explore as a family. Here are a few ideas to try at home:

• What's My Job?" Movie Night: Watch movies together and discuss the careers of the characters. (IE: Monsters, Inc., Ratatouille, Lego Movie, Zootopia, Coco, Alvin & The Chipmunks, and many more)

On Monday, March 30 at 2pm, our first grade classes will present a concert titled A Celebration of Family. Below are 3 ways that you can promote resilience with your kids as you are getting ready to head back to school after our long winter break:

1. Strengthen relationships with love and connection

• Feeling loved brings a stable sense of security that enables them to cope with adversity, whether at school or at home.

• This can be love expressed in words, notes in lunchboxes or extra hugs, joining in what they love to do, and scheduling in moments when you can be fully present with them.

2. Make space for emotions.

• Notice any big feelings they may be having. Observe and reflect to them emotions showing up in their facial expressions, tone of voice, posture and behavior.

• Ask open questions and keep an open mind. Open questions create space for them to reflect and speak thoughts aloud. This can help them with emotional processing, and help you with understanding their inner world.

3. Promote a sense of mastery

• Kids who are resilient believe in their ability to cope, even with situations that are new to them, or more challenging than any they have encountered before.

• Help them identify situations they are worried about, and walk through possible outcomes. Role playing and practicing situations in advance can help reduce worries.

Lindbergh Elementary will be presenting to the Board of Education on January 13th at 6:00 pm at Kenmore Junior Senior High School (formerly known as Kenmore Middle). Our focus is on incorporating Mind-Up, Community Circles, Engagement Strategies and Counseling Themes to help students to be able to center their focus while being able to learn calming techniques and coping skills. Our goal with this project is to:

• Establish a unified, consistent vocabulary and messaging for helping students with emotional regulation and social emotional awareness through the building
• Have students practice consistent mindful practices and techniques
• Increase positive interactions and relationships
• Increase in attendance due to better coping skills

This month our students are learning about conflict resolution and problem solving! You can go through the below scenarios with your child and have them sort them into:

Small problem-My reaction should be small and I can solve the problem by ignoring.

Medium problem-My reaction should be medium and I can solve this problem by talking it out or asking a friend to help.

Big problem- My reaction can be big and I need to ask an adult to help me solve the problem.

Huge problem-My reaction can be huge and I need to tell an adult right away.

1)Your friend has a new toy that you really like. You ask to see it and they say no.

2)The person next to you in class keeps trying to look at your paper during a test.

3)The person next to you keeps poking you with a pencil during silent reading time. It is annoying you.

4)You miss the bus to school.

5)You break your sister’s favorite toy on accident.

6)Your paper ripped while you were coloring.

7)Your friend falls off the playground and is bleeding.

All of our Lindbergh students, from Kindergarten through 4th grade, are learning about building a positive mindset through a classroom program called MindUP. The MindUP curriculum includes a series of lessons on topics like understanding the brain, mindfulness, and emotional regulation. MindUP helps students to prepare for school and life by learning to manage their emotions, find calm focus, and have an optimistic outlook.

We are working on increasing positive student behavior by encouraging students to be safe, kind and focused. Ask your child to explain what Lucky Lindy is doing in this graphic, and what it looks like when they are safe, kind and focused at school. You can extend the conversation by talking about what it looks like to be safe, kind and focused at home, and in the community.

Our PE classes have just finished a soccer unit. Students practiced dribbling, trapping, passing & shooting skills. Now we are enjoying some Spooky Stations which include Tarantula Tunnel, a Bat Cave, Ghost Catching, and our infamous Haunted House.

Frozen Kids is in full swing! Most of the music is learned, so we're beginning to learn the choreography this week. There's still time to volunteer to help with costumes, sets, and supervision. Teaching emotions through play is an important way to develop empathy in children. Games and activities can help children learn the language to express and understand complex feelings. According to our recent Panorama data, it would be helpful for students to practice expressing their challenging feelings at home as well as in school. Some examples of ways to incorporate discussion of emotions are:

• Emotions Charades: Act out an emotion for others to guess, using only facial expressions or body language.

• Feelings Jenga: Write different emotions on Jenga blocks. When a player pulls a block, they must talk about a time they felt that emotion.

• Pictionary: Draw an emotion for your family to guess.

• Emotions Tic-Tac-Toe: Draw a tic-tac-toe board and write an emotion in each square. When you place your marker, make a sentence about that feeling.

• Emotions Bingo: Create or download Bingo cards with different emotion faces. Call out the emotions for players to mark on their cards.

• Emotions Matching Cards: Use cards that show different emotion faces. Match the pairs or use them for a game of "Snap".

• Feelings Board Game: Use a board game that involves drawing cards with emotions, and on certain spots on the board, players have to share a memory related to that emotion.

We have been working on underhand and overhand throwing and catching in PE and had Mini Bootcamp in Wellness. We learned about muscular strength and endurance while participating in "Bootcamp" as a way to discuss and learn more about Veterans Day. Students completed battle ropes, tire flips, rope climb over a "wall", sprints, and other strength building exercies. They had a great workout!

Lindbergh 4th graders are proud to present Disney FROZEN KIDS on Thursday & Friday, December 11 & 12 at 7:00 pm in the Jordyn D'Alimonte Performing Arts Center. Every 4th grader is involved and selected the way they wanted to participate in our musical. The Storytellers, Stage Crew, Creative Team, and Research Teams have been working hard since October and can't wait to share their work with family and friends.

Frozen tells the story of a princess with ice powers, Elsa, who accidentally traps her kingdom in an eternal winter and runs away. Her optimistic sister, Anna, teams up with a rugged iceman, Kristoff, and his reindeer, Sven, to find her and save their home. Along the way, they encounter a hilarious snowman named Olaf and other characters in a heartwarming story about sisterhood, true love, and self-discovery.

We hope that you will join us on December 11th and 12th to enjoy the hard work of our 4th graders and to celebrate a story that will warm your heart! Tickets will go on sale for the cast on Saturday, November 22nd and for the rest of the school on Monday, December 1st.

Keep Goodbyes Positive and Brief

A warm, confident, and quick goodbye helps reassure your child that school is a safe and happy place. Lingering can unintentionally increase anxiety, while your calm and positive tone sends the message that they’ll be just fine. A consistent and simple routine like a hug, a high-five, or a special phrase can help provide comfort and predictability.

Avoid Sneaking Away

Though it might seem easier to slip out unnoticed, it can lead to confusion or increased worry. Saying goodbye clearly, even if it’s hard, builds trust and helps your child learn that separations are okay—and that you’ll always return

Each student will be able to get a free breakfast and lunch this school year. Even though meals are free, we need all families to complete food service paperwork that will be sent home in the parent packet on the first day. Completing the form ensures individual eligibility for certain state and federal programs as well as additional school funding.
